Disonancias

The Ikertia Foundation was going to launch a defibrillator for public spaces and wanted to explore the concept of health emergency. It required new points of view in order to add value and differentiate its product. From there on in it proved easy to channel the collaboration because, although Cuantics and Ikertia were motivated by different interests, we were both working around the same question. How can technology improve public space?

Once this coincidence of approach was identified, research began with two perspectives; that of Ikertia, which was more commercial and product-orientated, and that of Cuantics, which was more socially driven, intent on understanding and improving public spaces. The challenge would be to unite the visions within a project that would be profitable both in economic and social terms.

After various conversations which produced functionalities and improvements for the product we presented the "Metrocardiogram". The "Metrocardiogram" is a digital panel connected to sensors for movement, traffic and pollution, and emits a luminous pulse that symbolises the "pulse of the city". It is installed on the street and in busy thoroughfares so as to raise consciousness in a visual sense regarding the frenetic rhythm of our lives.

Like any element of Social Hardware, its mission is to re-evaluate public spaces. For Ikertia the possibility of installing it in association with a defibrillator makes it a potential launch strategy and in an advertisement so that, in case of necessity, its existence will be noticed.
