The mission of this project is to raise awareness in Basque society regarding the jobs disabled people perform as workers, transmitting integration, skills, normality, etc.
To achieve this we proposed that a participative communication in the 1st PERSON be drawn up, by the very people concerned. We do not just want them to appear in the "photo", but to be the ones who take the picture, aiming for the least possible mediation (in the conceptualisation, execution, presentation…). TRANSMITTING WHAT THEY TRANSMIT.
We understood the project to be an open process in which Disonancias represents a first stage of the experience. A prototype developed via a workshop approach. Workshops where disabled people have the floor so that they can tell about/show their work experiences: What they do, what production processes they are involved in, the relations they experience with their colleagues, what it means for them to go to work, their motivations, those kinds of things.
The aim is to create relational environments in which the new technologies are present as a vehicle of expression, actually understanding the workshops as spaces of DIGITAL LITERACY that empower disabled people as producers of their own content and information, providing them with THEIR OWN TOOLS AND SPACES FOR COMMUNICATION AND CONNECTION.
It may be the case that from here on in the main challenge is not for them to speak up, but for us to be capable of letting them do so with all the consequences. NO US AND THEM, THAT IS THE CHALLENGE.
